Global Health Uganda (GHU), in partnership with Indiana University, USA and Makerere University, Uganda, is pleased to invite applications for a fully sponsored 2-year Master of Science (MSc) in Biostatistics.
This prestigious program will be hosted at the department of Statistics and Data Health Science, Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health, Indiana University, in the United States. It offers a unique opportunity for advanced training in biostatistics, equipping graduates with cutting-edge analytical skills essential for careers in global health research, public health policy, and data science.

About the Programme
This programme offers an exceptional opportunity for motivated individuals who are passionate about public health, statistics, and making a meaningful impact through data-driven research. It provides rigorous training in statistical theory and biostatistical methods, with a strong emphasis on real-world application in public health, medical, and life sciences research.
Designed to prepare graduates for both professional practice and further academic study (such as a PhD), the programme balances theoretical foundations with hands-on experience. Graduates will be equipped with the skills necessary to contribute effectively to interdisciplinary research teams and to lead statistical analysis in complex health-related studies. full list of admissions criteria here. The degree requires the successful completion of 36 credit hours. Depending on their performance on the MSc, there is a possibility for the successful candidate to continue and complete a PhD study.
Eligibility criteria:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Biostatistics, Science in Actuarial Science, Computer Science (with statistics/math electives), Bachelor of Science in Data Science and Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics or any relevant course from an accredited
- Good preparation in mathematics & statistics, including at least courses like Calculus I & II
- Computer skills (data management, statistical software) are
- Acceptable academic
- Competent written and oral communication skills
